KYOCERA MITA launches new TASKalfa range designed to support managed document services

Design commonality across 11 new products will enhance usability and enable dynamic fleet optimisation

15 June 2011

KYOCERA MITA Europe B.V. is proud to unveil its new range of mid- and high-speed TASKalfa multifunction devices which are ideal for supporting optimised managed document services. The comprehensive range of mono and colour devices is based on a common engine, operational interface and software platform, with transferable optional accessories, meaning that organisations can dynamically reconfigure their fleet of devices as the needs of their business evolve.

The new range of devices incorporates advanced workflow integration features and with engine speeds ranging from 30-80 ppm, ensures that there is a TASKalfa to suit every business need. Significant enhancements to image quality, usability, document handling, and environmental performance ensure that the new devices will exceed the requirements of today’s dynamic enterprises.

Commenting on the launch of the new range Noriko Ishii, Product Manager at KYOCERA MITA Europe B.V. said: “The guiding principle behind the development of the new TASKalfa range is high performance and flexibility. We have taken the very best of KYOCERA MITA’s advanced document technology and applied it in a common design across all products from the high end down to the mid-range, and across colour and mono devices. We’ve also recognised that customers want to use their document imaging devices for increasingly complex in-house publishing, so we’ve expanded the variety of media supported by the products and incorporated features such as banner printing across the range.”

Improved ease of use and management

Each TASKalfa device is operated via a quick-response widescreen colour touch panel which is intuitively designed to provide a straightforward interface for users. Its simplicity ensures that even complex jobs and processes can be reduced to basic commands, whichever TASKalfa machine is being used.
The commonality of design extends into product options such as paper trays and finishers, ensuring that customers managing a fleet of devices can flexibly re-deploy options from one device to another with ease.

Colour Range: TASKalfa 3050ci/3550ci/4550ci/5550ci/6550ci/7550ci

Today’s businesses require consistent colour output of the highest quality to ensure that documents reflect their professional image. In order to guarantee exceptional image quality across the new product range KYOCERA MITA has enhanced its unique Amorphous Silicon drum with the addition of a “Mega-Surface” layer. The effect of this is higher drum photosensitivity and durability, leading to greater consistency in image production. Images benefit from pin-sharp contrast, smooth shades and excellent colour gradation. In addition, a new carrier auto-streaming system (CASS) continually refreshes the carrier in the toner system, which maintains the integrity of image quality throughout the life of the device.

KYOCERA MITA’s new colour MFDs will offer the option of a Fiery controller across all devices**, enabling professional-level colour matching and manipulation. To meet the needs of businesses who wish to produce bespoke marketing materials in-house, the new range has multiple options for document finishing and presentation, including support for 256gsm and A3+ (304.8mm x 457.2mm) paper via standard paper trays***, and saddle- and tri-folding finishers. Banner printing is also supported across the entire TASKalfa range.

Mono range: TASKalfa 3500i/4500i/5500i/6500i/8000i

Productivity and reliability are essential requirements for mono devices. The new 35-80 ppm TASKalfa range has been developed to ensure that however demanding the business environment, document handling and production is never an issue.
To ensure ultimate reliability KYOCERA MITA has re-engineered the paper path in the new TASKalfa devices, eliminating direction changes to reduce the risk of jams and misfeeds.

The availability of up to 8 different paper sources, including a 3,000-sheet side deck, enables a single device to support a wide variety of media, which is particularly valuable where devices are shared between multiple users or departments.

Advanced system integration solutions

All of the new TASKalfa devices are based on a common KYOCERA MITA software platform, which supports security features such as IPv6 and IPSec, plus Gigabit Ethernet network connectivity. Seamless integration into bespoke business workflows is provided through HyPAS™ which allows devices to be configured to interface with DMS and ERP systems directly from the device’s control panel. Complex processes can be reduced to a single click, ensuring the optimum level of productivity and efficiency for customer organisations.

The new TASKalfa range is available from KYOCERA MITA business partners from mid of June 2011.
