Kyoto / Neuss − The Japanese technology corporation Kyocera, a leading manufacturer in the field of electronic devices, is enhancing its product range by adding a new 8.4-inch SVGA LCD module with an extended temperature range and Advanced Wide Viewing angle (AWV).

The new universal purpose LCD module comes with a 170-degree viewing angle (both horizontally and vertically), while displaying no “color shift.” Even at extreme viewing angles there is no “grey inversion” exhibited in the new module. This makes it suitable for demanding applications in medical and industrial fields, where an optimal viewing angle performance is required. The broad operating temperature range (from -30 to +80 degrees) enables this LCD module to be used in tough environments such as for energy meters used in wind turbines. In addition, high power LED are used together with the latest light guides to achieve a light output which is needed for displays used in outdoor environment, such as kiosk applications, so that the screen is readable even under strong sunlight. For simple usage and installation, this module is already equipped with an integrated LED driver circuit, so no further components are required to drive the backlight. Moreover, the LVDS interface guarantees easy and simple operability.

Combined with these features Kyocera offers long term product availability, which distinguishes the company as a preferred and reliable supplier to industrial- and medical-use customers for both indoor and outdoor applications.

The Kyocera Group is actively engaged in the development of environmentally friendly products and continually strives to reduce the use of environmentally degrading materials and processes in its manufacturing.
