36, 48 and 60 cells: KYOCERA increases output for three product classes in its KD series

KYOCERA at Intersolar 2011

Kyoto / Neuss − The Japanese technology corporation Kyocera, one of the leading manufacturers in the photovoltaic field, is presenting three new modules from the successful KD series at Intersolar. Alongside the KD140GH-2PU and the KD190GH-2PU, Kyocera is showing its most efficient solar module to date with the high-performance KD245GH-2PB, which supplies 245 watts peak (Wp) of output. Kyocera is exhibiting the three new modules at Intersolar in Munich from 8 to 10 June, Stand A3.460.

Kyocera makes all components for its solar modules in its own manufacturing facilities and thus avoids having to buy in any intermediate products. This starts with the processing of raw materials and continues through cell production to module assembly. Production processes in the company’s own factories are subject to precise observation, analysis and continuous optimization. Only through such a procedure is the company able to systematically continue development on the product classes from the KD series with 36, 48 and 60 cells.

The flagship product from Kyocera is the KD245GH-2PB. Now mass production started after it was presented at Ecobuild trade show in London. With an output of 245 Wp and a module efficiency of 14.8%, it is one of the most efficient 60-cell polycrystalline modules on the market. It is particularly suitable for large commercial applications and open field arrays since a smaller quantity of modules is used to achieve a high output, thus enabling installation costs to be reduced. The KD245GH-2PB is equally useful for conventional house roof installations. Its large dimensions demand a high frame stability. This is why two additional cross-struts on the rear of the sturdy module frame guarantee safety, while the TÜV technical control board has certified the product for snow and wind loads of up to 5,400 N/m².

The KD190GH-2PU with 48 cells and the KD140GH-2PU with 36 cells have significantly smaller dimensions, with the two modules supplying 190 and 140 Wp respectively, it makes them ideal for residential users and restricted roof spaces.

In the contacts for the junction boxes of its modules, Kyocera opts for high-quality soldered joints rather than clamped joints, and thus offers dependable protection against fire hazards. The junction box meets the requirements of the highest non-combustibility rating of 5V-A in compliance with UL94.

The high quality standards that Kyocera places on its products guarantee maximum value and reliability. KD modules by Kyocera comply with the IEC 61215 ed.2 and IEC 61730 standards.
